Personal Statement
I am writing in the hope of pursuing admission to your post-graduate program for the full time taught course in International Human Resource Management for the 2007 year. Your master’s program really appeals to me especially your course in the field of International Human Resource Management, and I believe this course would help me achieve my dream.
Born into a family of government officials, I have been attracted to and impressed in management especially in human resource management. My father, an excellent government official, set a good example for me in how to efficiently put every person in the right position and be a successful leader. Since I was very young, I made up my dream that I want be a successful manager of human resource.
During four years of college life, I worked very hard and won a good command of English as a foreign language. My academic performance was of a high standard and ranked the 8th among 207 students of my same grade in my department and my current GPA ranked among the top 3 in my class.
Apart from pursuing studies in my English major, I joined associations and participated in many social practice activities like voluntary interpreter, part time English teacher, practiced government assistant, and so on. Those extracurricular activities helped me increase my English fluency and boarder my knowledge. My fluent English and good master of the skill in interpretation helped me be a volunteer in China Industrial Subcontracting & Outsourcing Fair 2006 held in Chongqing, China. My job was an interpreter in the one-to-one matchingmaking meeting. I did alternating interpretation for both Chinese and American companies in business negotiation. Because of my excellent job, I won praises from the companies and the commission of the event. Such experience gave me valuable experience in communicating with people, and useful lessons about business administration. I have also worked as practice research assistant in the government offices in every summer vocation. This experience allowed me to improve my presentation and organizational skills.
As a successful monitor and students leader in the past four years, I have found myself be gifted in administration management. So I want to learn practical skills in Human Resource Management. I can help people discover their potential and special talent. In 2006, I successfully carried out a plan of an English drama, and made every classmate take part in the show with appropriate role. And the show won the first prize in the Opera Festival of my department. Also sometimes I have to work to tight deadlines, and it taught me how to work independently as part of a professional team. I learnt through my work that if one person is inefficient, then everyone else can suffer, and also how to motivate others as a means of preventing such issues. My excellent work as a monitor brought me many prizes and awards such as the excellent student leader of the university.
I am very interested in how to develop the ability of people to work more effectively and successfully in their position. In my opinion, HRM is a very important part of any companies operation and I want to learn more about its strategic importance within a companies organization. I hope the professional management skills could help them work effectively under pressure, and enable them to have an efficient working attitude. Therefore, I want to develop my strong interest in Human Resource Management further through your programme.
Be a successful HRM professional is what I wish to be. After I complete my master degree, my goal is to go back to China and I could offer what I learn to service for the society. My solid education and my social practice experience so far have already form a good basis for my pursuit of this career.
